How much do insurance rates go up after a speeding ticket

How much do insurance rates go up after a speeding ticket

Postby Jen877 » Fri Apr 30, 2010 2:11 am

I just got my first speeding ticket in Los Angeles California. I am not sure if I would want to go to traffic school so I need to know how much would my car insurance rates go up if I decide not to complete my traffic school.

I think it goes up enough to where not attending traffic school would hurt your pocket books. I'm in LA as well, and from my conversation with my car insurance agent, it was significant enough where going to an online traffic school was a no-brainer. Give you insurance agent a ring and I'm sure they can give you an accurate estimation of how much it would cost for a speeding ticket, which I think is 3 points against you.

You know it really depends on your insurance company. I think for minor stuff like speeding tickets, the insurance rates don't really go up but it really depends on your plan. If you have an added point to your driving record than yeah it probably goes up a bit but you have to check with your agent and see what their policy is. If you have a pretty good plan then it won't hurt your pocket books.
